US Pre-Clearance Being Considered For Private Aircraft
By FlyingNews @ 10:22 AM :: 341 Views :: 0 Comments :: General Aviation
"An increasing number of US visitors travel to The Bahamas by private aircraft. When they leave The Bahamas on their private aircraft, they are required to stop at the first US port to clear customs, usually in Florida. To eliminate that leg of the journey home would add to the visitor experience," This has been a problem for a long time. It would be nice to change this for entering the US from Mexico also.

It took some deep pockets, but Raytheon Company has found a buyer for its Raytheon Aircraft subsidiary.

Late last year, Raytheon announced “a definitive agreement” that will turn Raytheon Aircraft over to Hawker Beechcraft Corp., newly formed by Onex Partners of Toronto and GS Capital Partners (an affiliate of New York-based Goldman Sachs).

The $3.3 billion deal includes Raytheon Aircraft facilities and other assets in Wichita and Salina, Kan.; Little Rock, Ark.; and Dallas, as well as its FBO network in the U.S., UK and Mexico. NAYSA orders 2 additional ATR 72-500
By FlyingNews @ 10:04 AM :: 371 Views :: 0 Comments :: Commercial Aircraft Manufacturers
ATR and the Canary Islands airline NAYSA today announced the signature of a contract for 2 additional new ATR 72-500s for a total value of US $ 36 million. ATR and NAYSA previously signed an agreement for 4 new ATR 72-500 in September 2006.

These two aircraft, configured with 72 seats, will be delivered in 2007 and will be equipped with the new “Elegance Cabin”, with Light Emitting Diode (LED) and with the newest technological innovations in the field of communications and navigation aid tools.

Commenting on the sale, Filippo Bagnato, ATR CEO, said: “We are really happy to strengthen our partnership and our ties with NAYSA, as well as with the group Apoyo y Logistica Industrial Canarias. The ATR aircraft, with its unbeatable economics, its high standards of comfort as well as with its lowest level of pollutant emissions, are fully adapted to the needs of the interisland operators and the ATR 72-500 has been very successful for many years in the Canary Islands.”

Manuel Alvarez, General Manager of NAYSA, stated: “We are fully confident in the quality and the performance of the ATR aircraft, which represents the optimal choice for our interisland operations. The ATR 72 has proven itself over many years of successful operations in the Canary Islands. Furthermore, the latest generation of ATR aircraft will allow us to fly with environment friendly aircraft characterized by the lowest operating costs and provide jet-like comfort to our passengers. These were key points in our decision to add more new ATR 72-500 to our fleet.”

NAYSA is currently operating Beech 1900 aircraft. With its new fleet of ATR 72-500, NAYSA will develop its already existing commercial agreement with Binter Canarias on some interisland connexions.

ATR has sold 839 new aircraft (401 ATR 42 and 438 ATR 72) since the beginning of the programme.

About NAYSA
NAYSA (Canarian Navigation and Aerial Services) was founded in 1969 under the name of Aereal News, and is the oldest private airline in Spain. During its first two decades, the carrier commercialized its aircraft fleet between national and foreign cosignatories and shipbuilders, with contracts for the transportation of personnel, spare parts, supplies and logistical support. Between 1991 and 1998, the airline increased its promotion of cargo services in order to face the hard times that commercial aviation was undergoing after the Gulf War. The accumulated experience of almost 30 years of service in the Canary Islands, the detailed and exhaustive knowledge of the market and the more than 48,000 accumulated flying hours were some of the initial arguments of the entrance of NAYSA in the regular transportation of travellers in 1998. At the moment, NAYSA has agreements with Binter Canarias to operate in Wet Lease regimes and routes of low density. In addition, it continues with its operations of aero taxis, ambulance flights and crew transfers of companies as well as with its cargo operations.

Boeing Business Jets Unveils Interior Concepts for 787 VIP
By FlyingNews @ 9:31 AM :: 340 Views :: 0 Comments
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Jan. 31, 2007 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] Business Jets today unveiled concepts of luxury and comfort for the 787 VIP airplane. Concept renderings of custom interior designs for the advanced-technology widebody VIP jet were displayed at the Middle East Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition in Dubai.

"A Boeing 787 VIP affords its owner complete accommodation," said Steven Hill, president of Boeing Business Jets. "The spacious cabin and the technology of the 787 enable an owner to design a beautiful environment that exactly meets preferences and needs. Whether you are looking for a flying palace or a business office in the sky -- or both, the possibilities are endless."

"Aboard a 787 VIP owners can fly anywhere in the world nonstop, and on those long-distance flights, it is critical to have amenities and a cabin environment that allow passengers to be completely comfortable and productive," Hill added.

Boeing Business Jets has commissioned several design firms to develop preliminary concepts for 787 VIP interiors. A number of other airplane interior design firms and completion centers have developed a variety of innovative interior design concepts for the 787 VIP as well.

Boeing does not design or install interiors in VIP airplanes. Boeing delivers VIP airplanes in so-called "green" condition, meaning the airplane does not have interior furnishings or exterior paint. Customers then work with certified designers and interior completion centers to develop personalized interiors.

The VIP-configured 787-8 offers 2,404 square feet (223.3 square meters) of cabin space and a range of 9,590 nautical miles (17,760 km) while the VIP-configured 787-9 offers 2,762 square feet (256.6 square meters) of cabin space and a range of 9,950 nautical miles (18,425 km).

To date, undisclosed customers have ordered five 787 VIP airplanes -- two 787-8s and three 787-9s -- direct from Boeing. Two additional 787-8s are being provided to VIP customers through leasing companies. The first commercial version of the 787 is scheduled to make its first flight later this year.

The ACJ Family marks its best year ever
By FlyingNews @ 9:29 AM :: 335 Views :: 0 Comments :: Commercial Aircraft Manufacturers
The Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ) Family won a record 20 sales in 2006, surpassing the previous year's record of 15 orders and securing its position at the top of the corporate aviation market.

The ACJ Family comprises the A318 Elite, A320 Prestige and ACJ, which is based on the A319. Airbus has now sold a total of almost 80 ACJ Family aircraft.

"For the third year in a row we have outsold the nearest competitor in the large, top-of-the-line corporate jet market and the ACJ Family won almost two-thirds of sales in this sector in 2006," said Richard Gaona, vice president executive and private aviation. "With the widest, most comfortable cabin available in the corporate market and a thoroughly modern, reliable design, the ACJ Family is the aircraft of choice for discerning customers."

Airbus also delivered a record 10 ACJ Family aircraft in 2006 along with the first A340-600 VIP, which was handed over to the SAAD Group in December. The ACJ is also venturing into new territory with the Australian Government Antarctic Division.

All ACJ Family aircraft feature customisable corporate cabins, built in airstairs that eliminate the need for jetways or mobile steps and can be fitted with extra fuel tanks for greater range. The ACJ and A318 Elite also have a higher cruise altitude of 41,000 ft.
