China Eastern Airlines took delivery of the third of its three Airbus A300-600Fs at EADS EFW´s facility in Dresden, Germany. The airframe bearing the Manufacturer Serial Number (MSN) 525 was formerly operated by the Chinese airline itself as a passenger aircraft. The conversion into freighter configuration started in late September 2007. China Eastern Airlines` first and second A300-600 aircraft bearing the MSN 532 and 521 were both converted in 2007.
“With three converted A300-600 freighter aircraft implemented to its fleet, China Eastern will perfectly meet the increasing needs of the prospering Chinese airfreight market, one of the fastest growing markets worldwide”, said Dr. Andreas Sperl, President and CEO of EADS EFW.
As of today, EADS has delivered a total of 155 converted freighter aircraft to almost 30 customers worldwide. EFW, headquartered in Dresden, Germany, with a workforce of about 1,200 is the centre of competence for Airbus passenger to freighter conversion within EADS.
