Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer plans to spend $51 million to build a manufacturing plant at Melbourne International Airport.
The planned 149,500-square-foot building, the company's first U.S. factory, will be dedicated to final assembly, painting, delivery and customer care center operations for Embraer's Phenom business jet aircraft.
The factory is expected to employ about 200 people by 2011. They will be working in jobs that include aircraft assembly, production planning, logistics and quality, aircraft interior design, corporate administration, engineering, aircraft testing, delivery and flight testing.
