63 years later, 404 Squadron returns to ‘Black Friday’ site

Representatives from 404 Maritime Patrol and Training (MP&T) Squadron from 14 Wing Greenwood, N.S. will leave Canada for Forde, Norway on June 23 to pay final respects to aviators lost during the tragic ‘Black Friday’ mission of February 9, 1945.
On that cold day, 404 Squadron, also known as the ‘Buffalo’ Squadron, sent 11 Bristol Beaufighter TFX twin-engine coastal fighter aircraft to attack one of the last surviving German destroyers near Forde on the western coast of Norway.
