OWEN SOUND, ONT. - The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are honoured to resume their 37th Air Show season June 20 in Owen Sound, Ontario, and to continue their tradition of excellence as proud ambassadors of the Canadian Forces and Canada.

"We are looking forward to performing for communities across North America, proudly flying Canada's colours," said Major Robert Mitchell, Commanding Officer, Canadian Forces Snowbirds. "We remain committed to representing the best of the Canadian Forces and Canada."

During the 2007 season, the team will perform in about 40 air shows as well as community, school, and hospital visits.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds have been on an operational pause since May 18, 2007, following a tragic accident that claimed the life of Captain Shawn McCaughey, Snowbird 2, at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont., U.S.A.

"The 2007 season is dedicated to the memory of Captain Shawn McCaughey, a talented pilot, dedicated officer and wonderful friend," said Major Mitchell. "I am extremely proud of our team's professionalism and dedication - we are ready to resume our mission."

The Snowbirds' mission is to represent the skill, professionalism and teamwork of the men and women Canadian Forces and to inspire Canadians to consider an exciting career in Canada's military.

The team arrived in Owen Sound June 20 and is scheduled to participate in a re-naming of the Billy Bishop Museum, a community event, a school visit and the air show.
