Nigeria: Old Planes, Domestic Airlines' Albatross

For a long time, Nigerian air passengers have been managing old planes which are largely banned in Europe and United States. New airplanes are very expensive; many of them cost between $45m to $300m. Many Nigerian airlines cannot afford new aircraft. So how are they going to own modern planes in order to remain in the competitive market dominated by well-to-do foreign airlines that enjoy state-of-the-art aircraft?
