Embraer delivered the first Legacy jet to SIMPORTEX, located in Luanda, Angola. The State-run company is responsible for purchasing the country’s military materiel.

Besides the newly-delivered Legacy 600 jet, the deal with SIMPORTEX covers a broad parts and services contract. The Angolan company will also begin operating a twin-turboprop EMB 120 Brasilia in the coming months, and both aircraft will be used to carry Angola’s government authorities.

“We are proud to deliver the first aircraft for carrying Angola’s government authorities,” said Luiz Carlos Aguiar, Embraer Executive Vice President, Defense and Government Market. "Our greater objective is to carry forward our relationship with Angola by delivering topquality and high-performance products.”

The presence of Embraer’s Defense and Government products on the African continent has grown in recent years. Angola has been flying the Tucano turboprop, since 1997. In Nigeria, Embraer delivered jets to the States of Rivers, in 2005, and Bauchi, in 2007, for transporting that nation’s public officials.

In the Defense area, Embraer’s aircraft are flying in over 20 countries, worldwide.
