A pilot who died after crashing his glider last year might still be alive today if he had taken earlier safe opportunities to land, according to a report on the accident.

Barry Thompson, 54, of Langdale, Bedford, died on September 19 last year, 20 days after he crashed his Slingsby Dart glider close to Thirsk, Yorkshire.
