Federal authorities are investigating why a man found some aircraft parts washed up on the beach
this afternoon in Lincoln City, authorities say.
A man walking along the beach called police shortly after 3 p.m. after he found some aircraft parts, possibly pieces of landing gear, a Lincoln County Sheriff's Department dispatcher said this evening.
The U.S. Coast Guard sent two aircraft to the area, an officer in Seattle said. Lincoln City police also are investigating, officer Paul Compton said.
The Federal Aviation Authority was notified and is sending a representative to investigate, Compton said.
