University of North Dakota Orders 25 Cessna 172 Skyhawks

Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, today announced it has entered into a multi-year contract with the University of North Dakota for Cessna 172 Skyhawks. The first four of 25 Skyhawks to be delivered in 2008 were handed over yesterday during a ceremony at Cessna's facility in Independence, Kan. The aircraft will be used for flight training.

The university's John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences (UND Aerospace) is an international leader in collegiate and contract aviation education. On average, enrollment of flight students tops 1,000 and total flight training hours surpasses 90,000 each year in more than 120 aircraft.

Cessna Delivers First Flight School Mustang to University of North Dakota

Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, yesterday delivered the first Citation Mustang to be used by a flight school to the University of North Dakota (UND).

The school will use this entry level Citation jet for executive travel as well as flight training for undergraduate and contract students.

Air Force Web site can prevent air mishaps for civilian pilots

Air Combat Command officials here currently are reaching out to private civilian pilots by publicizing a Web site designed to prevent mid-air collisions with military aircraft.

The Web site, called www.seeandavoid.org, allows users to locate their flight path and determine how they can avoid flying through military operating areas.

Cessna Presents Platinum Award to Pigs Can Fly Training Center

Pigs Can Fly (PCF) Aviation, LLC has received the Platinum Award for exceptional performance in the Cessna Pilot Center (CPC) network from Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company.

The award was presented by CPC Western Regional Manager Jim Pitman to PCF Aviation co-owner Patrick Mallon during the August 2007 Cessna Pilot Center Seminar in Wichita. Cessna considers a number of factors in evaluating CPC performance including facilities, training equipment and general operations.

Cessna Announces Skyhawk Order from Gestair Group

Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today at the AERO Friedrichshafen trade show an order for 11 172 Skyhawks from the Gestair Group, one of the largest flight training schools on the Iberian Peninsula.

The Skyhawks, all equipped with the Garmin G1000 avionics suite, will be delivered over the next eight months.

“This will allow Gestair to replace some of its older Skyhawks with the new Garmin-equipped Skyhawks that will be instrumental in its mission of initial training of future airline pilots,” said Bob Gibbs, Cessna director of International Single-Engine Sales. “With the G1000, new pilots are better prepared to move forward in Gestair’s top-rated airline training program.”

Northwestern Michigan College's aviation program will have a fluctuating number of planes for its 100-plus students to use under a new contract that officials said will save more than $100,000 per year over buying the planes outright.
